It's just as easy to remove the tailshaft housing from the transmission and remove.

Used this tool to pull and replace the tailshaft bushings in both my '84 Mustang with the T-5 and my '57 Thunderbird with the Fordomatic. Tool works excellent. Make sure to grease the threads on the puller and go slow with hand tools only. Both bushings pulled right out with no issues. Driver tool put the new ones back in square and easy/5(12). Apr 10, I need to replace the bushing in the tailshaft of my T-5 as I have a leaky seal and vibrations.

Took the tail housing off, not scored at all.

I'm not quite skilled enough yet to drop the transmission and take the tailshaft off, and no show near me had the tool.

They all just want to do a full rebuild. Does anyone have this tool? I would be willing to pay shipping and throw 30 bucks your treedelimbing.buzzted Reading Time: 6 mins. Jun 14, Now I want to know if anyone here has a tailshaft bushing remover tool and if they can rent it out to me.

My last option would be to buy the tool but I'm trying to stay away from that since I probably won't use it more than once.

Or just remove the tail shaft housing but hold the mid plate and don't. make it move at all or you'll lose all the input shaft needle bearings. You will need to. Last one I did, all I used was a screw driver and hammer to remove it, once it was out of the car. Come think of it, I don't see how either of those tools.
